Starting or continuing the pill
The pharmacy contraception service can help people start the pill, restart it after a break, or obtain an ongoing supply. Both combined and progestogen-only pills may be available through the service. You do not need a prescription from a GP to request an assessment.
A confidential conversation
You will speak with a pharmacist in private about your health, current medicines and contraception needs. Depending on the pill being considered, the assessment may include blood pressure, height and weight checks. This helps the pharmacist decide which options are suitable for you.
Understanding your options
If a pill is supplied, the pharmacist will explain how to take it and discuss possible side effects. If another method or further assessment would be more suitable, they can signpost you to a GP or sexual health service. Supply depends on the consultation.
Book your consultation
Choose a contraception appointment through Semble. Bring the name or packaging of your current pill, if you use one, and information about other medicines you take. If you need emergency contraception after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure, seek advice promptly rather than waiting for a routine contraception appointment.
